Dr Giovanni Giaroli strongly believes in early childhood education around neurodiversity (diagnoses of ADHD, Autism and other conditions) for both neurodiverse children and their families, as well as for the general population.

Therefore, he has published a trilogy of children's illustrated books (248 pages in total (illustrations by Elisa Pellacani) that follow "Melissa" (a very chatty bee) and "Silvano" (a wolf who is vegan) and their journey of self discovery to better understanding themselves and their neurodiversity, along with Giovanni (a barn owl) who helps them on that journey.

Foreword: Who I am and why I wrote these stories?

My name is Dr Giovanni Giaroli and I am a psychiatrist, but unlike Dr. Giovanni in my story, I am not an owl. However, I certainly wouldn’t mind working in a forest with talking animals or being friends with Melissa and Silvano. I also wouldn’t mind having a marmot as an assistant! All joking aside, I have been a child and adolescent psychiatrist for more than twenty years and have spent the last ten working specifically on neurodevelopment and neurodiversity. My three short stories refer to these specific aspects of psychiatry based on my professional and personal experience, and I hope that my readers and their families enjoy reading them.
