Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
Dr Alex Horne is a highly experienced Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with a long and distinguished leadership career including that of being the Medical Director for North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT) and Lead Consultant of the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Unit at the Nightingale Hospital, London. Dr Horne has worked for many years supporting children, adolescents, and their families, and brings deep expertise in the assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental conditions, including ADHD and autism.
Dr Horne is known for his warm, engaging, and collaborative approach, and for his ability to build strong therapeutic relationships with young people, particularly those with symptoms of ADHD or who are autistic. He works closely with families to ensure children and adolescents feel understood, supported, and actively involved in their care, tailoring his approach to each individual’s needs.
Dr Horne collaborates in our centre’s multidisciplinary setting which delivers the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) and ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised) or 3Di (Developmental, Dimensional & Diagnostic Interview) as pioneered by the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, for formal diagnoses of autism where required.
He remains up to date with the latest clinical research and best-practice guidance around ADHD and autism, and is committed to delivering thoughtful, evidence-based care. Dr Horne has a particular interpersonal strength in helping children and adolescents engage meaningfully in the assessment and treatment process, supporting positive outcomes both at home and at school.
Dr Horne’s General Medical Council (GMC) registration is 2342290 and he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
