Dr Diane Gindner MSc MRCP (UK) FRCPCH

Dr Diane Gindner is a Consultant Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician (medical doctor) with over 19 years of Consultant-level experience in the assessment and diagnosis of neurodevelopmental conditions (such as ADHD and Autism) in children and young people of all ages.

She has a particular clinical interest in ADHD and Autism (ASD), including children and young people who present with both conditions or with complex overlapping features. Her wider clinical work includes the assessment and management of other neurodevelopmental conditions such as Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD / Dyspraxia), developmental delay and more complex developmental presentations.

Dr Gindner has almost two decades of experience at Consultant level within the NHS. She worked as a substantive Consultant Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) as part of a large multidisciplinary community paediatric team, and held an Honorary Consultant post in Neonatal Neurology at Hammersmith Hospital, London.
Her work at Hammersmith Hospital (London) focused on the developmental assessment and follow-up of infants and young children, including those born prematurely and those with neurological conditions who were at increased risk of later neurodevelopmental difficulties.

Dr Gindner works closely with colleagues within the Giaroli Centre’s multidisciplinary team in the assessment and diagnosis of Autism (ASD), using established specialist assessment tools including the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule), ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised) and 3Di-sv (Developmental, Dimensional & Diagnostic Interview).

Beyond ADHD and Autism (ASD) diagnostic assessments, Dr Gindner has extensive experience in the longer-term management of ADHD, including both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. Dr Gindner takes a calm, thorough and child-centred approach in her ADHD and Autism (ASD) assessments, allowing time to understand each child or young person in context of their personal development as well as in their family and school environments. She places particular importance on explaining the outcome of an ADHD or Autism (ASD) assessment clearly and providing practical recommendations for families, schools and other professionals in her comprehensive reports.

In 2018, Dr Gindner received a Clinical Excellence Award in recognition of her clinical practice and contribution to service development. She developed an Autism Resource and Strategy Booklet for children and young people, which was incorporated into the Milton Keynes Local Offer and has been widely used by families, schools and professionals. She has also contributed to Autism (ASD) parent training programmes and has extensive experience in teaching and supervising paediatric trainees and medical students.

Dr Gindner was awarded an MSc in Clinical Paediatrics from the Institute of Child Health, University College London. She has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at international scientific conferences.

Dr Gindner is fluent in both English and German and has a good knowledge of French.

Dr Gindner is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), registration number 4127211, and is on the Specialist Register for Paediatrics. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH).
